High Seas Drifter was a great finale to this interesting series. Bruns is such a descriptive writer, I often found myself wondering "how does he remember all these details?" Sometimes, as with the other books in the series, I laughed out loud at the way he would describe certain events/situations. As far as the history, I really felt like I was there as he was telling about the history of the different countries/ports he visited. There was an element of mystery to this particular book too, I won't spoil it for other readers but just like the other books in the series, I couldn't put it down. I plan to read 3 out of these 4 books again (didn't care for #2).Product details

I live Bruns' books. I love cruising and the insight it brought me was great. I still love cruising, but I appreciate the crew so much more.
Brian has such a fun voice while writing. He's always kidding around and taking himself less seriously than he could in tough situations. I love it.
I love crusing so ready about Brian and his adventures was fun! A few of the books gets repetitive with some of the stories which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Was delighted to discover a fourth book had been written when I was recommending this series to a friend. Laughed out loud many times, happy tomgetbto a happy ending, but hope
The adventures continue on dry land
Chances are, if you are reading this book, you have probably read the three previous installments of this series and are eager to learn how the plot progresses. This book does indeed tie up most loose ends and answers all or most of the reader's questions about Bianca and Brian's whirlwind romance. (I cannot explain what questions I specifically wanted answer because that would give away the ending!) But what sets this book apart from its predecessors is its fine attention to detail and imagery. Bruns uses this book to highlight his vast knowledge of art and history. The unique ports that the Wind Surf visits are all revered for their art, history, and culture. Bruns is able to tell the history of these destinations by providing a story within a story. It felt like a history lesson, but held my interest throughout. Bruns does a brilliant job of using imagery and foreshadowing throughout his book to paint a vivid picture while teasing the reader of things to come. While I enjoyed reading all of the Cruise Confidential books, I strongly believe that this was the best one. Bruns has sharpened his writing skills and mastered the art of combining storytelling and recanting history.
In this book, you will meet some unique characters. While they aren't as vibrant and as plentiful as past Cruise Confidential books, they are still memorable and add to the plot. You will definitely find characters you love and hate. Is with past installments of this series, betrayal and psychotic characters seem to be the norm. Ultimately, this book seems to be about the author's inner struggle to find peace. This is one of those books that you will start to read but will never want to put down; the plot is just that good!
The final book sees our hero through additional trials and tribulations as an art auctioneer and cruise staff (family member). Its not just about what he did for love, but the loss, wild times and craziness that became his life over several years. You get a sense of him as a person, and the crazy fellow crew members he saw some exotic ports with. You find out what becomes of his love quest, experience the twists and turns of life set with the backdrop of a small cruise ship full of colorful crew members. Its not a "Hollywood" ending kind of story per se, but the conclusion reminds you that life is a journey and a gift...as was this book
I took my first cruise in February 2016 on the Carnival Sunshine. A friend of mine recommended the first book to me. I was hooked and bought the entire set. You never know how much of the story is completely accurate but the story is fun enough and I believe some of it at least is true. It's been interesting following along with Brian on his journey. I'd recommend to anyone who likes cruising and just wants a light hearted read to get them from cruise to cruise. I have two more cruises coming up in the next two months and my is coming with me.
